Does Retro Rewind Have Multiplayer?
Running a busy Friday night video store rush sounds like the perfect job for you and a friend. With modern simulation games heavily leaning into co-op experiences (like Supermarket Simulator multiplayer mods), one of the most frequently asked questions is whether Retro Rewind – Video Store Simulator has multiplayer functionality.
1. The Short Answer: No
Currently, Retro Rewind is a strictly single-player experience.
There is no official co-op, split-screen, or online matchmaking available in the game.
2. What Do The Developers Say?
The indie studio behind the game, Blood Pact Studios, consists of a very small team. In fact, Samuel Gauthier is essentially the only programmer working on the game.
In recent interviews, the developers have addressed the loud community requests for multiplayer:
- Status: The developers have stated that implementing multiplayer or co-op for this specific title is currently out of scope due to technical constraints and the foundation of the codebase.
- Future Plans: In a Hollywood Reporter interview, Gauthier mentioned that while treating Retro Rewind strictly as a solo experience has been successful, the team would "really like our next endeavor to return to the multiplayer or co-op space," similar to how they enjoyed playing and play-testing their previous turn-based game natively against each other.
3. Are There Multiplayer Mods?
Beware of clickbait videos on YouTube and TikTok claiming to showcase a "Retro Rewind Multiplayer Mod."
- There is no functional multiplayer mod on Nexus Mods or any reputable modding site at this time.
- Most of the videos demonstrating "co-op" are functionally either highly edited parodies or showcase other simulation games.
- If a legitimate networking mod is ever successfully developed by the community, we will immediately update this page and our Mods & Cheats Guide with download instructions.
While multiplayer is out of scope, the developers recently reversed their stance on Controller Support! Originally deemed out of scope as well, the massive Official Launch Patch officially brought Controller Support to the game alongside new localizations! Keep your fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath for multiplayer just yet.
